Quacquarelli Symonds, founded in 1990, has established itself as the leading global provider of specialist higher education and career information and solutions. It has been producing authoritative, independent and global rankings since 2004.

Up to 98 per cent of FPT University students are employed within six months of their graduation for an average monthly salary of VND8.3 million (US$368).

FPT University has got an overall rating of three stars for three years, and yet its overall score has increased from 408 to 477. The university has two more criteria with five–star ratings.

QS statistics showed that the average age of three-star universities was 50, while FPT University was just six years old, FPT University said.

"QS is a reliable organisation that evaluates the quality of universities. By participating in the evaluation process, FPT University hopes to be part of the world rankings and become aware of our status to find ways to keep pace with global education trends," head of FPT University Dam Quang Minh said.

FPT University is a private information technology university in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, which was established in 2006.

Its name derives from that of its managing organisation, the Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology, or FPT for short. It is the first private university to be opened in Viet Nam.

The university has participated in QS ranking since 2012 and was the first in Viet Nam to get a three–star rating.

Besides rankings, the QS stars system evaluates universities against a range of important performance indicators based on a ratings method.

A three-star institution is often nationally well-recognised and may have begun to attract international recognition.
