Hanoi authorities will inspect local agencies to find whether they have resumed their normal work following the holiday period.

Some local agencies in Hanoi have continued their festive activities despite the holiday period officially finishing. The municipal People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung has instructed the Hanoi Department of Internal Affairs to conduct spot-checks on local agencies and offices, particularly those helping to deal with administrative procedures for the public and business community.

Earlier, local media said that some agencies in Hanoi, such as in Hoan Kiem District's Chuong Duong Ward, had no staff available as they were too busy visiting other agencies to convey new year greetings or going to pagodas to actually serve the public.

Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung urged local agencies to immediately concentrate on providing services to residents. He also banned local state employees to use state-owned vehicles to attend festivals.

HCM City People's Committee Chairman Dinh La Thang also conveyed similar instructions to local agencies.
