The victims were brought to hospitals
The accident occurred at around 5pm yesterday, April 12, when seven miners were trapped underground.
Other workers have been unable to rescue them due to the toxic air.
The mine where the four workers died
The mine owners failed to notify emergency services due to its illegal operations. It was not until 7pm that local authorities heard about the incident and dispatched rescue forces to the site.
Chairman of Nam Giang District, A Lang Mai, told local media this morning that rescue forces had recovered the victims' bodies by the morning.
Investigations are continuing.
Illegal gold mining remains a problem in Quang Nam Province.
Authorities noted that besides local people, about 500 people from other provinces and cities are in the area to search for gold.
