A huge fire in Dong Nai Province on June 27 has killed four people in a family and injured two others.

The fire occurred at 2am on June 27. A local said he was woken up by a loud noise and saw a huge fire already ablaze inside of Tran Thi Lien's house. The neighbours tried to break down the door but failed because there were too many locks. The fire fighters arrived to the scene as quickly as possible but the fire was only put under control two hours later.

"The fire was already very big by the time we arrived. We heard several small explosions inside. Because it's an electronics store, there's a lot of stuff and chemicals inside," said Tran Ngoc Ha, Lien's neighbour.

Police are investigating the case

Tran Thi Lien, her daughter-in-law and her two grandchildren were caught up in the fire. Her son, Tran Trong Hung, held his one-year-old child and climbed up to the roof, hoping to escape to other houses but he couldn't find a way. He called for help from the roof and let the child fall from three metres while people gathered below and safely caught her.

The house is burnt down

According to the locals, he tried to go back inside but the fire had blocked all entrances, forcing him to jump down. When the rescuers broke down the door later, Hung's mother and wife already died. The two children were still breathing but unable to survive.

Bien Hoa City provided VND24m (USD1,090) and the Tan Bien Ward People's Committee gave him VND5m.

The police in Tan Bien Ward are investigating the cause of the fire.
