Woman caught trafficking heroin at HCM City airport

A Vietnamese-Australian woman was arrested at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City on July 24 while found to attempt to transport five kilos of heroin to Australia.

The 37 year-old woman, whose name was not revealed, split the heroin valued at USD750,000 into 26 bags hidden carefully in her baggage.

The woman told the police that she would have been paid USD25,000 for the successful smuggling of the heroin.

The police are further investigating the case.

According the customs office of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, officers have found 1.1 tonnes of Khat from Africa, and nearly 15 kilos of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine between the first six months of this year.
