Hundreds of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in Vietnam and their supporters organised a bicycle tour on Sunday morning in Hanoi to oppose discrimination against the LGBT community.

The rally also saw the participation of the US Ambassador in Vietnam Ted Osius, several other embassy officials and representatives from many international organisations.

The rally was part of the 5th annual Vietnam LGBT Pride that was held in Hanoi on August 19-21 to mark the freedom of love and personal expression, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.

The tour began at 8.30 am and finished at 10 am, going through many streets in the city centre.

This year, many other activities such as an exhibition, movie screening and talks were also organised in Hanoi to promote the rights of the LGBT community.

Bike rallies will also be held by Viet Pride in many localities nationwide this year.
