Seven dead, 11 others in critical condition after Lai Chau food poisoning incident
Seven people have died and 11 others in critical condition after eating at home in the northern province of Lai Chau on Monday evening.
The incident occurred at a funeral in Ta Chai Village in Phong Tho District. All the victims who are from Ha Nhi ethnic minority group were rushed to local hospitals.
According to director of Lai Chau Provincial Department of Health, Nguyen Van Doi, seven people have died by early Tuesday morning while 11 others are still being treated at Phong Tho Health Centre and Lai Chau General Hospital.
"The victims showed signs of food poisoning," Doi said. "We are examining the food samples that they had in their dinner."
