Dat is facing the death risk due to the heart failure

Dat’s mother Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong said the boy’s health condition was normal until six months ago when he had a cough and flu symptoms. After taking a variety of medicines but without any improvement, he was taken to Bach Mai Hospital for a check-up where he was diagnosed with serious heart failure.

The news really shocked the boy’s family. Doctors said that the only way to save him is a heart transplant, however, this would cost up to VND700 million (USD31,810). To date, the boy’s parents have borrowed only VND200 million along with selling all the family’s most valuable assets.

Doctor Nguyen Huu Uoc, head of the hospital’s heart disease ward, said that all means of treatment to the boy have proved ineffective as he has contracted dilated cardiomyopathy and faces the final stage of heart failure.

“The only method to save him is the heart transplant. We have received a donated heart over the past year and luckily it is tested suitable for the boy’s body,” Uoc added.
 
According to the doctor, Dat’s survival rests on very expensive medicines and breathing machine.
