Three killed, 16 injured in Ha Nam bus accident

At least three people have been killed and 16 others injured after a passenger bus collided with a truck in the northern province of Ha Nam on Thursday morning.

Local people reported they heard a loud crash at around 8.40am and came out to see the tragic accident at an intersection in Kim Bang District's Thanh Son Commune.

According to chairman of Thanh Son Commune People's Committee, Nguyen Xuan Diep, three out of 19 people on the 16-seated were killed in the accident while other 16 were all injured.

"Initial investigation showed that the group were traveling from Hoa Binh Province to Thai Binh when the accident occurred," Diep said. "We've taken the victims to Ha Nam Provincial General Hospital."

Director of Ha Nam Provincial General Hospital, Do Trung Dong, said that they received 19 people from the accident at 9am when three of them died already.

"Five of the 16 injured people are now in critical condition with head injures while others had broken legs and arms and are taking further tests," Dong said.

Police are investigating the accident.
