Man detained for bringing USD400,000 into Vietnam
A man in the southern province of Binh Phuoc has been detained for trying to bring USD400,000 into the country.
On April 18, border guards at Tay Ninh Province’s Moc Bai Gate caught Tran Duc Long, 32 years old, bring the money across from Cambodia.
Long said he had gone to Phnom Penh to visit a friend and then went to a casino named Nagaword. He was then asked to take USD400,000 to a person in HCM City. Long was to be paid USD700 for acting as a courier.
To avoid the customs officers, Long and his Cambodian friend put the money into candy boxes covered with sticking-plaster.
