Tests on 11 samples of food and drinks of a restaurant on Ho Nghinh where the travellers had dinner indicated that pickles contained high levels of e coli.

The tourists, including 11 from Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, were hospitalised with stomachache and diarrhoea.

It was the first food poisoning reported in the city this year. Local authorities have temporarily suspended the restaurant’s operations.

The Ministry of Health recorded 129 food poisoning cases, that left 12 people dead and affected around 4,000 in Vietnam last year.
