Dan Tri Newspaper has just transferred VND62m (USD2,700) to two small sisters in Bac Giang Province whose mother is imprisoned and father has mental problems.

The two sisters receive donation

Giap Thi Hieu, chairwoman of the Red Cross Organisation in Viet Lap Commune said, "After their story was published, many people have sent clothes and books to them. The sisters were also sent VND3m which is a huge gift for them."

The representative of Dan Tri Newspaper had transferred the donation of VND62,025,000 (USD2,700) to the sisters at the headquarters of the Viet Lap Commune People's Committee with Giap, Vice Chairman of Viet Lap Commune Hoang Van Ha and other officials in the village.

The communal authorities said they would help the sisters deposit the money and buy school supplies as well as other necessities for the sisters each month.

Vice Chairman of Viet Lap Commune Hoang Van Ha also expressed gratitude to kind readers as the sisters will not have to work part-time jobs and have full meals as well as time to study more.

The mother of Tran Thi Kim Hong, 12, and Tran Thi Han, 5, was sentenced 12 years in prison in 2014 and since then her father has become an alcoholic. He wanders all day and begs for food. Han had been hospitalised before because of starvation.

Ha said, "We also worry about them but because of a limited budget, we can only help them with rice and some hundreds of thousands of VND. We want to thank everyone that helped the sisters."
