Poor family seeks help for operations after traffic accident
Four members, including two small children, in a poor family in the southern province of Vinh Long have serious injuries after a traffic accident.
On August 6, La Minh Tri, 42, carried his wife and two small children on a motorbike from Binh Duong Province to Vinh Long Province. When going through Cu Chi District, they were crashed into by a truck which was running in the opposite direction, leaving them hospitalised for serious injuries.
Tri was diagnosed with a spleen injury and broken left arm, so doctors said that he needs to have his spleen removed. His wife Nguyen Thi Ut Hien also has a spleen injury along with broken ribs and left leg. She has been operated on.
Their child Le Gia Han, 7, was diagnosed with a broken thigh bone and the child Le Gia Nghi, 5, was sent to Pediatrics Hospital 2 in HCM City for face and head injuries.
Meanwhile, the couple and Han, who are staying at Cho Ray Hospital, will have to take operations in the coming time on their bone injuries. However, the family is poor and can’t cover the treatment fees.
Hien said that their oldest child who is now 15 years old has left schools to support the family.
Due to the financial difficulties, the couple took the two daughters to Binh Duong Province to look for jobs. The husband works as a builder, while the wife works for a cashew processing workshop.
One month ago, Tri had a workplace accident, causing him to be injured in his leg with profuse bleeding. They had to borrow VND10 million (USD454.5) for the treatment.
Just two weeks after the workplace accident, Tri’s mother was sick, so they had to return to their hometown in Vinh Long to take care of her and it was then that they had the traffic accident.
Doctor Thien Chi from Cho Ray Hospital said that the couple and their daughter needs VND60 million (USD2,727) for the operations and treatment.
