The farmers in the province’s Pháp Kệ Village were digging out the roots of bushes to expand their fields when they found the grave 0.5m under the ground. The grave is shaped like a cube, 2.55m long, 0.9m wide and 0.73m high.

The grave box’s cover is a single white colour stone. All items in the grave were intact at the time that they were unearthed.

The site is located 1.5km from the Cồn Nền archeological site, where thousands of stone, bronze, iron, and ceramic farming tools and daily items have been found, with the oldest items dating back to 3,500 years ago.

The elderly people in the village said the bushes at the grave site had been untouched for hundreds years.

Trần Minh Hường, an official in Quảng Phương Commune, which includes Pháp Kệ Village, said the field expansion process has been stopped to protect the site.

Hường said swift reports have been made to the provincial cultural authorities to begin necessary excavation work.

Curious locals flocked to the site to view the grave and light incense.
