Vietnam Airlines was given the first 4-star certificate in last July, adding Vietnam Airlines to the list with Air France, Lufthansa and Emirates.

Duong Tri Thanh, Vietnam Airlines' director, said, "We've focused on developing both domestic and international routes in the past years. We're honoured to have served millions of passengers as well as to promote Vietnam to the world."

He went on to say that Vietnam Airlines had always been trying to improve the on-time performance. Vietnam Airlines was the most punctual carrier domestically, with 90.2% of flights being on time during the first eight months of this year. According to post-flight surveys, customer satisfaction ratings ran at 3.85 out of five points.

The round-the-clock customer care centre which was opened on June 1 and online surveys to receive quick feedback from passengers are also a huge improvement. The quality of service has been improved greatly after the collaborations with many five-star airlines such as Japan’s All Nippon Airways or Indonesia’s Garuda.

Vietnam Airlines continues expanding with 11 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and eight A350-900 XWB planes were added to the fleet recently. Since mid-2016, it has opened three new departure lounges at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports.

In the past years, Vietnam Airlines have received many supports and recognition from the passengers and international aviation community via prestige awards. At the World Travel Awards Asia and Australasia Gala Ceremony 2016, it was given two awards for being Asia’s Leading Airline (Economy Class) and Asia’s Cultural Airline.

It was also in the Top 20 World's Best Premium Economy Class 2017 and Top 50 airlines by Skytrax.
