Many northern localities, including Quang Ninh, Haiphong and Hanoi are forecast to see heavy rains due to the impact of a tropical low pressure.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, a tropical low pressure some 220km to the south-east of Quang Ninh Province and Haiphong City’s coast with the strong wind of 40-60km per hour would affect the mainland.

The tropical low pressure to cause heavy rains for northern localities

The centre said the tropical low pressure will enter Quang Ninh and Haiphong at around 4 pm this afternoon, bringing torrential rains to the northern region, particularly north eastern cities and provinces. It is forecast to weaken in the next 24 hours.

During the September 25-26, the average rainfall in the northern region would be around 50-100mm and the level at some north eastern localities would be even over 150mm.

Hanoi will face heavy rains from this afternoon to tonight.

The Gulf of Tokin area is expected to have high waves and strong wind.

Meanwhile, landslides have been warned at Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang and Bac Kan.
