Poor woman needs urgent help after workplace accident
A poor ethnic minority woman in Bac Giang Province is in desperate need of financial support to cover the treatment fees for her operation following a workplace accident.
Vi Thi Vung, 24, lives in Son Dong Commune’s An Lac District. Vung, who suffered from mental diseases when she was small got married to Ninh Van Thanh who has hearing impairment and then they had two children.
More than one month ago, she went to Hanoi to work as a day labourer for construction sites, leaving two small children at home to be taken care of by her ailing husband.
One day, a brick suddenly fell into her head, causing profuse bleeding.
She was taken to a local hospital where doctors said that her skull was seriously injured. They conducted an urgent operation to save her.
According to doctors, Vung has to have a second operation, but this would be very costly. The family lives in a cottage which can collapse at any time in a mountainous area.
“The second operation is scheduled for September 22, however, we don’t know how to afford this,” Vung said.
Nguyen Duc Thanh, a local resident, said that Vung’s family has been listed as a poor family in the commune for many years. The accident has made their life tougher, but locals weren’t in a position to help as many were poor.
