Hanoi-Performance of Opera “Carmen”

Featuring Artist Pham Anh Phuong, Director Huyen Nga, Conductor Dong Quang Vinh and the Hanoi Voices Choir & Erato Music’s Children Choir, Singers and the Choir & Orchestra of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet

Originated from the novel by Prosper Mérimée, the opera Carmen was completed in the autumn of 1874. It was the last work of Georges Bizet, and also is the most popular opera on the stage in the world until now. Bizet, through his music, told us a tragic story behind brightness, and depicted the optimistic, straightforward but wild personality of a Gypsy girl, Carmen. The opera discloses the bald-faced passions, describes the eternal confrontation between men and women, shows the ruthless but beautiful life, and proves the perpetual co-existence between love and death.

HCMC-Comedy Performance “Lend Me a Tenor”

The Tony award winning comedy “Lend Me a Tenor”, a play by American playwright Ken Ludwig.

Directed by Aaron Toronto, the play follows the escapades of a world famous Tenor singer, Tito Merelli, who is unintentionally drugged before a big performance.

TDC 63 is held in November, December in Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City respectively as a festival of inspiration, creative ideas, and the opportunity to meet with design professionals.

Hanoi- Mosaic ceramic paintings of APEC 2017 leaders

Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street

An exhibition on mosaic ceramic paintings of 21 leaders attending APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting 2017 and pictures of President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

The paintings were created in a two-year art project, with the participation of ceramic artisans in the southern Dong Nai province.

After Hanoi, the exhibition will come to Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City in December.

The exhibition focuses on the mental concept of traditionality and modernity with an aim to realize that the world has always been miraculous, loving and brand-new. This is the chance for audience to see and appreciate the artworks by the two artists, as well as preserving and promoting Vietnamese contemporary art to local and international public.

HCMC-Exhibition “Slices” by Ngo Van Sac

In his solo exhibition, Ngo Van Sac returns to his unique form of wood burn painting as a follow-up to his 2015 exhibition of collage and acrylic on canvas paintings entitled “In Opposite”. With “Slices”, Sac continues the evolution of his wood burn practice with the introduction of more acrylic paint and calligraphy, and through a change in primary subject matter from a focus on self-portraiture to the portrayal of the peoples of Vietnam’s ethnic minority groups. What remains the same are Sac’s working method which demonstrates a mastery of his materials, and the exciting outcomes of his experimentation.

HCMC-Exhibition “Paradise Lost” by Hoang Thanh Vinh Phong

The Factory Contemporary Arts Centre, 15 Nguyen U Di, Thao Dien, District 2,

Bringing visitors to a world where the familiar is made strange, the mundane mythologised and the symbolic re-arranged. Through the shifting of shapes and twisting of material, images and objects from the everyday world are taken out of context, heightened with a sense of ambiguity, asking us to look beyond what our first glance has to offer.

Ticket: VND35,000 – VND25,000 (with appropriate student ID) – free for children under 16.

HCMC-Exhibition “Spirit of Friendship'


The Factory Contemporary Arts Centre, 15 Nguyen U Di, Thao Dien, District 2

A survey exhibition highlighting the role and contribution of the friendships between artist in furthering the development of the experimental art practice in Vietnam, since 1975, featuring 22 artist-groups from across the country.

As an educational display, it gives recognition to how ‘friendship’ continues to further the testing and encouraging of ideas among artists, beyond what was officially understood, taught, or predominantly exhibited in Vietnam at that time, believing their art worthy of more than catering to ideological/formal and touristic (commercial) demands.

Hanoi- Italy-ASEAN Week

November 17-27

Nov 18-19: An “Italy road” starting from Ly Thai To Statue to several places significant to the country’s culture in Hanoi’s centre, including such fashion stores as Max Mara, Moschino and Valentino.

Nov 21: the Italy Embassy and the Ministry of Science and Technology will hold a conference to introduce important contents of bilateral cooperation projects.

Nov 23: A workshop aiming to promote Italian language in the ASEAN bloc will be organised by the Hanoi University and the University for Foreigners of Perugia.

Italy’s young and talent pianist Nazareno Ferruggio will join Vietnamese pianist Pham Quynh Trang in duet performances.
