Grab Taxi ordered to not operate out of pilot programme
>> Grab accused of illegally operating in Thua Thien-Hue The Ministry of Transport has asked Grab Taxi to stop operating in three provinces of Thua Thien Hue, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Lam Dong that are not in the pilot programme for the application of science and technology in passenger transportation.
The pilot project has been carried out in five provinces and cities, including Hanoi, HCM City, Danang, Khanh Hoa and Quang Ninh, from 2016 to 2018. The ministry has reported to the pilot programme's results to the government. The Ministry of Transport proposed to work more closely with local authorities to ban violators from providing the service.
"Before we receive prime ministerial directives, Grab Taxi Vietnam must not expand the operation to other areas that are not included in the pilot programme," said the ministry's representative.
Departments of transport in Thua Thien Hue, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Lam Dong were asked to monitor the situation and report to the ministry by January 25.
