Vietnam hosts two international volleyball tournaments

Two international volleyball tournaments will be hosted by Vietnam this summer, organizers told a press conference in Hanoi on May 14.

According to the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam, the 2018 Lien Viet Post Bank International Men’s Volleyball Championship will take place at the northern province of Ha Nam’s Sporting Hall on May 15-31. It will feature 6 teams including Burevestnik Club from Kazakhstan and those from China, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, and the host Vietnam. Total awards will be US$40,000, including US$15,000 for the champion.

Meanwhile the 2018 Asian Lien Viet Post Bank Women's U19 Volleyball Championship will be held in the northern province of Bac Ninh’s Sporting Hall and Bac Ninh Sport University on June 10-17, drawing 16 teams from Australia, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Kazakhstan, Iran, India, Macao, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

Deputy head of the Vietnam Sports Administration and Volleyball Federation of Vietnam Tran Duc Phan said the tournaments offer an excellent chance for Vietnamese players to gain experience to improve their qualification and prepare for other Asian tournaments and Asian Games in August.
