4,029 cows arrive at Cai lan Port in Ha Long City of Quang Ninh province on May 15

The cows, with a value of more than USD6 million, will be raised by Phu Lam Ltd Company in Mong Cai City before being distributed to other farms and slaughterhouses throughout the country.

The company has been carrying out a project to raise herds of breeding cows and beef cattle in Quang Nghia commune since March 2016 with a production scale of 40,000 cows per year. This is the largest FDI project in Quang Ninh province.

The company has built breeding facilities on a 1,000-hectares farm and developed grazing pasture according to Australian standards. Besides developing a 300-hectare of grazing pasture, the project is also working with local farmers to have some 1,000 hectares more to ensure enough foods for the cows.

When the production process was stabilized in October 2017, the project generated direct employment for 300 workers and provided livelihoods for more than 1,000 local people.

Soon after Phu Lam farm received the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System certificate from the Australian Department of Agriculture, Australian partners signed agreements in principle with Phu Lam to supply high quality beef and provide the necessary guidance during the raising and veterinary processes.

Furthermore, within the framework of agricultural cooperation between Vietnam and Australia, they will step up the development of slaughterhouses, and processing and preservation facilities to international export standards toward a complete chain of beef production.
