Two railway staff face prosecution for tragic train accident

Two train crossing guards in Thanh Hoa Province have been detained and prosecuted following a tragic train accident in the locality which left two dead and nine others injured.
The accident happened on the early morning of May 24 when the train which was running from Hanoi to HCM City hit a truck carrying stones going over the crossing. The truck and six carriages of the train including four passenger carriages overturned in the collision.
The train driver and his assistant were killed in the cabin and nine others were injured on the train and were all provided with intensive treatment at Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi.
The police say that at the time of the accident the railway gate on the street was not in place.

Nguyen Van Hung, 35, and Pham Van Vui, 40, who are both from Tung Lam Commune, Tinh Gia District, Thanh Hoa will be detained for three months while an investigation into the cause of the accident is carried out.The accident happened on the early morning of May 24 when the train which was running from Hanoi to HCM City hit a truck carrying stones going over the crossing.
