Authorities of the Central Highlands city of Da Lat have proposed construction of a seven-floor car park in the city centre area.

Under the city’s proposal sent to the provincial people’s committee and Department of Planning and Investment, the project is aimed to ease traffic jams in the inner-city areas at holidays.

The 4,000-square metre parking lot, which will include three ground floors, will be located on Thu Khoa Huan Street.

Da Lat People’s Committee recommended moving some public works, including Da Lat Temple, to the east of the city to have land for the project implementation. In addition, 16 local households will also be relocated.

The project is expected to be started later this year and is scheduled for completion in 2020.

The city welcomes around five million visitors per year.

Da Lat is the only city in the country where traffic lamps are not installed along roads due to the sloping terrain.
