Vietnam Airlines opens flight simulator complex
Vietnam Airlines opened the first flight simulator complex in Vietnam on August 21, marking a milestone in its investment strategy for pilot training.
Two are for Airbus A321 training, one for Airbus A350, and one for Boeing 787.
The construction of the complex will bring many benefits to Vietnam Airlines in particular and the airline industry in general.
The localization of training for pilots of the three aircraft will help Vietnam Airlines take the initiative in training, ensuring the quality and quantity of pilots are at the highest level according to international standards in safety and quality. Vietnam Airlines will also save more than VND285 billion ($12.3 million) over ten years.
Strategically, the flight simulator complex is the basis for affirming Vietnam Airlines’ position in the market, pioneering the provision of training services for pilots of new generation aircraft towards the goal of making Vietnam Airlines’ training center among the Top 5 in the region.
The training center has provided services for many regional airlines, including to pilots from Australia and India.
Mr. Duong Tri Thanh, General Director of Vietnam Airlines, said the investment demonstrates the company’s strategy of providing an ideal training environment for pilots. “Modern technology also allows us to monitor and supervise the quality of pilot training, ensuring the highest standards,” he added.
A member of the Skyteam Alliance, Vietnam Airlines operates 90 routes to 20 domestic and 29 international destinations with an average of 400 flights per day. It owns a fleet of modern aircraft, including Boeing 787 Dreamliners, Airbus A350-900 XWBs, Airbus A330s, and Airbus A321s.
It was recently recognized as a four-star international airline for the third consecutive year, meeting the rigorous assessment of Skytrax after choosing to improve the quality of its products and services to reach further into the international market.
