Oranges to be served on Vietnam Airlines flights

Cao Phong Oranges, a speciality of the northern province of Hoa Binh has just been added to the menu served to business class passengers of Vietnam Airlines from December 8-22.

The fruit will be served as a dessert by the Vietnamese national flag carrier on nearly 70 domestic and international routes, including those between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and those connecting the two cities with destinations in Asia, Europe and Australia.


Speaking about the introduction of the fruit on their flights, Vietnam Airlines deputy general director, Le Hong Ha, said that this was part of their Four Seasons of Fruit – Four Seasons of Love project which aims to promote seasonal farming specialities and traditional products of Vietnam.

"Foods served on flights always provides a first impression about culture, especially for foreign passengers," Ha said. "We want to provide Vietnam’s most famous specialities to our passengers especially foreign visitors as a greeting from the country."
Cao Phong oranges are the third speciality fruit served on its flights, after Luc Ngan litchi and Hung Yen longan.

Vietnam Airlines has just won the World’s Leading Airline – Premium Economy Class 2018 and the World’s Leading Cultural Airline 2018 titles of the World Travel Awards.

Earlier this year, Vietnam Airlines was certified with a four-star airline rating by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax for the third consecutive year.

The airline has further enhanced its in-flight dining experience by appointing Luke Nguyen as its Global Cuisine Ambassador. Nguyen recreated the in-flight menus to present authentic Vietnamese flavours from different parts of the country in harmony with on-board dishes.
