Bamboo Airways, the fifth airline to launch in Vietnam, will start operating flights from January 16.

Bamboo Airways, the fifth airline to launch in Vietnam, will start operating flights from January 16.

According to the airlines' Vice President, Duong Thi Mai Hoa, tickets have gone on sale from January 12 with prices from VND149,000 (USD6.48) excluding fees and services charges.

"In the first phase, Bamboo Airways will focus on routes connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to famous tourist destinations including Phu Quoc, Quy Nhon, Buon Ma Thuot, Danang, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Dong Hoi and Van Don," Hoa said. "We hope that our ticket promotions will help bring more tourists to these destinations during the Tet Holiday."

According to the airlines, up to 60 domestic flights per day are planned.

The airline had integrated multiple payment gateways onto its website, like NAPAS, VNPay and the mobile app from Military Bank, she said.

Customers can also buy tickets at Bamboo’s 1,000 agents nationwide.

Check-in procedures can be carried out via mobile phone, QR Code or check-in kiosks at the airport during the second quarter.

Bamboo Airways received its Aircraft Operator Certificate for commercial flights on January 7.

Bamboo Airways was set up in 2017 by the FLC Group and received its air transport business licence in early November 2018. An airline representative said the company was fully prepared for the flights. It hopes to operate 37 routes across Vietnam and internationally.

The airlines will launch international flights to Japan, Singapore and South Korea later this year.

Bamboo Airways will be Vietnam’s first hybrid carrier, combining traditional and low-cost models.
