Images of an eight-year-old girl who suffered from severe bruises have gone viral on the internet.

The girl was said to be beaten by her father Le Dinh Hai, 36 in Nong Truong Commune, Trieu Son District on February 20.

Le Thi Huong, the girl’s mother, told the media on February 21 that she and her husband divorced in 2017. Since then, the two children have been living with their father and grandparents.

Huong cited her daughter as saying that Hai had abused his daughter many times as her study results were not as good as her older brother. Most recently on Wednesday the daughter was tied to a pillar and was beaten by him with a bamboo rod.

At that time, the girl’s grandparents were away from home so no one could dissuade Hai from this brutal action. A neigbour saw the incident and informed local authorities.

"I came to take my daughter right after being informed by the police on Wednesday afternoon," Huong said.

Luong Dinh Phuong, head of Nong Truong Commune police station, said that they had requested the father to come to the station to report on the case. However, he had left home.

Local police are investigating the case.

Phuong noted that Hai now does not have a stable job. He has ever had two convictions of drug smuggling.

The girl has received a medical examination.
