Go-Viet drivers in Ho Chi Minh City go on strike on July 19 to show their dissatisfaction with the new bonus regulation

According to some drivers, under the new regulation, they will get a bonus of VND40,000 (USD1.73), VND120,000, and VND240,000 when they make 40, 64 and 80 points, respectively. Meanwhile, the old policy only required them to make 10, 18, and 28 points to get a bonus of VND30,000, VND90,000, and VND180,000.

The striking drivers turned off their app and flocked to Go-Viet's head office in Ho Chi Minh City to ask for a change in the bonus regulation.

In a meeting with the drivers, a representative of Go-Viet Company said that they had done an online survey among drivers before announcing the new regulation.

"The new regulation will apply higher fares for passengers who will experience better services with faster bookings during rush hours," the representative said. "The drivers will also benefit from this with higher weekly incomes. This policy has been applied in Hanoi since May and is supported by drivers there. Hard-working drivers have seen their income increase considerably."

The representative, however, said that they would gather opinions and introduce more appropriate policies.
