Vietnam can definitely defeat Singapore at the decisive game today in Hanoi in the last round of group B of the Southeast Asian Football Championship, Suzuki Cup, according to Mai Duc Chung, who was once assistant to head coach Henrique Calisto.

Singaporean defenders are not swift enough, especially in the box, and the hosts can pin on it to find goals, he said.

To do it, Vietnamese forwards and midfielders should make continuous moves to stretch the rivals’ defenses in large number to create chances to convert into goals. Chung remarked.

However, the visitors are strong in physical fitness and possess advantage in their better height, which is much useful in playing long and flying passes.

To tackle it, Vietnam should not deploy their defenders in low formation to set offside traps, Chung added. Their right places are about 20-30 meters away from their goalframe.

Besides, Vietnam should manage to take the lead in goal scoring to avoid the Singaporeans playing heavy defenses as a draw would ensure them a spot to the last four round.

Meanwhile, Vietnam, now with 3 points, must win as a tie means Vietnam can only advance if Myanmar defeat the Philippines. Singapore and the Philippines each have 4 points.

Vietnam routed Myanmar 7-1 in the opening round last week and lost 2-0 to the Philippines in the previous round on Sunday.
