Statistics from the HCM City Department of Public Security show that after Resolution 100 on administrative fines on road and railway violations took effect on January 1, they had dealt with 403 violations as of January 13. Only 18 of which are car drivers, the rest are motorbikes.

The inspectorate of HCM City Department of Transport also reported that they had worked with the police in District 9 to crack down on drivers using alcohol and drugs from December 15. They had inspected 109 vehicles and found three cases that are positive with drugs. They are working with the road and railway traffic police to tighten inspections during the Tet Holiday.

After the drunk driving law and regulations about administrative fines took effect, a large number of drivers and restaurants have been affected and forced to change. However, there are still many drivers claiming that they didn't know about the new law. Some drivers refused to co-operate when they were pulled over.

The HCM City police advised drivers to be responsible especially as the Tet Holiday is near and instead of driving, call a taxi or ask others to drive them home after parties.
