Hanoi ceramics workshop fined for using head of state’s name on products

A ceramics workshop in Hanoi has been found printing the name of Vietnamese state president and prime minister on its tea set products.

Hanoi authorities have fined the facility owned by Tran Thi Kim Hoa in Bat Trang Commune, Gia Lam District for selling 35 tea sets with the names of Party Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc written on as if the products are the gifts given by the officials on the occasion of the Lunar New Year or Tet.

The batch was worth VND11.2 million (USD486.95).

Hoa also failed to show legal papers for her business operation.

She has been fined VND6 million for the violations (USD260.86).

The products were advertised online as gifts for Tet. Each set consists of six cups and one pot made from Bat Trang porcelain materials. It was sold at the discounted price of VND690,000 from an initial VND1.2 million.
