Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked the Ministry of Health to tighten monitoring at the borders and airports to find and quarantine suspicious cases on time. They must also have suitable measures to deal with any outbreak.

The Ministry of Information and Communication, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work closely together with the Ministry of Health to publicise the information and give advice to the public. People were asked to not travel to areas with outbreaks.

Chairmen of provincial and city people's committees must ensure that there were enough medicines and equipment for emergencies.

Saigontourism has cancelled a tour to China on January 25 since they will transit through Wuhan. Other tour agencies confirmed that they have been affected by the outbreak but not too much since Wuhan is not the popular destination for Vietnamese tourists.

Nguyen Cong Hoan, director of Hanoi Redtours told Zing News that they had two groups of tourists to Beijing and Shanghai. "We and our partners are also monitoring the situation to ensure safety for tourists," he said. "Wuhan is not our main destination. We'll refund customers if they want to cancel the tour."

There is no specific treatment for the new virus, and no vaccine to prevent it yet. The outbreak is believed to have started in the Chinese city of Wuhan and has a human-to-human transmission. As of now, over 541 cases have been reported including 15 medical staffs and 17 deaths.

The World Health Organisation is holding a meeting on whether or not to declare Wuhan coronavirus as a global emergency. Wuhan city was put on lockdown in an attempt to quarantine the virus. All means of transports were banned from leaving the city.
