National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and budget airline Jetstar Pacific have offered to refund customers who want to cancel their flights to and from China amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Customers will get the refund and schedule changes free of charge for flights from and to from Chinese cities starting from January 24 until further notice.

The two carriers are co-operating with concerned agencies to provide up-to-date information about the epidemic to detect suspected people.

Both would give masks and gloves to passengers on their flights to and from China if requested.

The airlines have prepared solutions to deal with possible risks.

The firms have also instructed their staff about the prevention and control of the disease.

The tally of confirmed deaths from China's viral outbreak has risen to 80, with authorities in central Hubei province on Monday reporting 24 new fatalities and 371 new cases according to AFP.

The latest figures from Hubei, the epicentre of the contagion, would put the nationwide total of confirmed infections at more than 2,300, based on figures previously released by the central government.
