Quang Nam Province People's Committee has just asked the local Department of Transport to establish a separate taxi fleet to serve Chinese-speaking customers.

The Transport Department was asked to work with some concerned departments and the Mai Linh Hoi An Company to set up the new taxi fleet.

The committee also asked Hoi An Town to allocate two locations to receive Chinese-speaking passengers at Hoai River Square and 8 Hoang Dieu Street.

The local Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism would be responsible for providing information support for these passengers.

The Health Department will supply face masks, hand wash and health check-ups and treatment for drivers if they are infected by the coronavirus.

A taxi driver working in the fleet said that they began receiving Chinese passengers on February 12. These taxis all have signboards so that passengers can recognise.

According to head of the Hoi An City Department for Culture and Information, Nguyen Van Lanh, by February 13, there were 37 Chinese tourists staying in the city which was a sharp decrease compared to the number reported before the coronavirus outbreak. These tourists all arrived in Hoi An before the epidemic and could not return home.
