Field hospital being built inside Bach Mai Hospital amid Covid-19 outbreak

A makeshift hospital is being built inside Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi which has suffered a Covid-19 outbreak.

According to Professor Nguyen Quang Tuan, director of Bach Mai Hospital, there are preventive measures to respond to the possible worst risks brought about by Covid-19.

 

 

 

Construction for a field hospital inside the Bach Mai Hospital starts on March 28

Bach Mai Hospital has been locked down since March 28 after more Covid 19-cases related to the hospital were detected.

Tuan said that 631 relatives of patients have been sent to concentrated quarantine zones. All staff of the hospital have been banned from going out.

At present, nearly 3,500 people are at Bach Mai Hospital, including more than 1,300 patients, including 552 who face critical condition due to kidney failure.

"Medical staff are trying their best to take care of patients and pay attention to Covid-19 prevention regulations,” Tuan added.

The hospital has temporarily ordered meals from an airline catering firm.

Bach Mai Hospital is among two Covid-19 outbreaks in Vietnam along with Buddha Bar in HCM City. Three Covid-19 infection sources have been identified in the hospital including the Department of Neurology, the Centre for Tropical Diseases and the restaurant area operated by the Truong Sinh Company.

To date, 15 people related to the restaurant have tested positive to the virus.

Vietnam has confirmed 194 Covid-19 cases with Hanoi and HCM City accounting for the highest number.
