The Ministry of Transport has requested a halt of all coaches running from Hanoi to HCM City and as well as a reduction of some domestic flights amid the escalating Covid-19 crisis.

Under the ministry’s instruction, coaches departing from Hanoi and HCM City are allowed to run two trips per day to localities which are less than 100 kilometres far from the two cities. The passenger number needs to account for less than 50% of coach total seats. The maximal passenger number is 20.

For other routes, coaches are permitted to operate one trip only daily with the same regulation about passenger number.

The ministry has ordered Vietnam Railways Corporation to cease all train routes in localities, except for those on Hanoi-HCM City route, between March 30 and April 15.

Only four trains on the Hanoi-HCM City route are allowed to operate during this period with two trips from Hanoi to HCM City and two trips from HCM City to Hanoi.

Regarding the aviation sector, each airline will provide only one flight per day on Hanoi-HCM City/ Danang/Phu Quoc and HCM City-Danang/Phu Quoc routes. Airlines have to halt all remaining flights from and to HCM City.

In special cases, airlines have to seek authorities’ approval.

Cars and flights which transport goods are not subject to the decision.
