Two British Covid-19 patients are discharged from Hue General Hospital on Apri 7

Of the released patients, 11 were from the Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, nine in Ho Chi Minh City, four in the southern province of Dong Thap, two in Thua Thien-Hue and one in Ben Tre province.

All of them had tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 at least twice and are now in stable health. They will be quarantined for further monitoring at home for another 14 days.

Doctor Do Thi Phuong Mai at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases said that they faced lots of challenges in treating Covid-19 patients due to the changeable characteristics of the virus.

"Some patients may test negative for the virus after receiving treatment but then show positive again in the second test," she said. "Some had side effects from the drugs. We have to consult treatment methods from many countries and try to adjust them to suit Vietnam.”

As of the afternoon of April 7, Vietnam confirmed a total of 249 Covid-19 patients, 122 of them have recovered while 127 others are being treated at different hospitals nation-wide.
