Blind man struggles to support mentally-ill sister
A 70-year-old blind man in Ha Nam Province is in need of financial help to support his sister who has mental problems.
"Whenever I return home, I call for him to make sure that he isn't stolen and feel happy and relief when he answers me," Son said.
Son's sister often mutters to herself and sits alone all day. Tran Van Su, vice head of the Nguyen Khuyen residential cluster, said Thang used to wander away. After falling and getting hurt, she has stopped running away.
"It's heartbreaking seeing Son searching for his sister everywhere so everyone helped him. Thang always falls when she goes out. There was one time, she fell so hard that her head bleed. She was scared of going out since then," Su said.
"I tried to earn money by grinding the flour and we have government allowance but it's not enough to buy medicines for my sister. As my health deteriorates, I also can't work anymore," Son said.
Their meals often consist of just rice and soup. Son said it was good enough that they still have something to eat.
