Phu Tho man fined for exploiting talc without permit

Tran Van Tu from Tan Phuong Commune, Thanh Thuy District, was found to be exploiting talc without permission. He transported 20.2 cubic metres of talc. All of the exploited minerals will be transferred to the police in Phu Tho Province to return it to the mine.

He will be fined VND85m (USD3,600) in accordance with Decree 33 issued in 2017 about administrative fines in water and mineral resources and another VND341m for an excavator and a car. Tu must pay the fine within 10 days.

Illegal mineral exploitation has been a problem in Phu Tho for years. Despite the hefty fines, many still flouted the rules and bans and the local authorities still do not have any effective solution to deal with the problem.
