More Covid-19 cases linked to Danang outbreak

Vietnam has recorded 12 new Covid-19 patients by Saturday morning with all connected to the recent outbreak in the central city of Danang, according to the Ministry of Health.

The figure has raised the country’s total infections to 116 since the virus resurfaced last week, including up to 92 from Danang City.

 

Danang Hospital where more Covid-19 cases have been detected

The ministry added that the cases aged between 2 and 78 are all from Danang Hospital.

By this morning, August 1, Vietnam has a total of 558 Covid-19 patients, including 302 from abroad, with 373 being discharged from hospital for their full recovery.

The pandemic has also hit HCM City and Hanoi cities and the provinces of Dak Lak, Quang Ngai and Quang Nam. Quang Nam has reported 15 cases, followed by HCM City with five, Hanoi with 2 and Quang Ngai and Dak Lak with one each. All patients from these five localities are linked to the Danang virus outbreak.

At present, up to 91,462 people are being quarantined for Covid-19 prevention in Vietnam.

Vietnam has confirmed a second death related to the pandemic. However, the two male patients, one aged 61 and the other aged 71, both had other diseases such as chronic renal failure, hypertension, diabetes and heart issues.

Hue Central Hospital in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue City is providing treatment for 19 Covid-19 cases, including seven being in critical condition.

The Ministry of Health and Danang are setting up two Covid-19 treatment centres at Danang Lung and Respiratory Diseases Hospital and Hoa Vang District’s Medical Centre.

Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi have sent psychologists to Danang to help local medical staff cope in the fight against the pandemic. Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City has sent three more hospitals psychologists to Danang for support.
