Four new Covid-19 infection cases were confirmed on Sunday morning in Vietnam, raising the total number of patients in the country to 590, according to the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

Health workers take samples for Covid-19 testing in Danang City.

Among the new patients who are all Vietnamese, two are from abroad who were quarantined upon arrival, one is from Ho Chi Minh City and one from the central province of Quang Ngai.

The two imported cases were repatriated from Russia on July 17 on the Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062. There have been 21 people on that flight tested positive for the virus so far.

One of the two community transmitted cases is a 42-year-old man in HCM City. He travelled to Danang for summer holiday. He is now being treated at a local healthcare centre.

The patient from Quang Ngai Province had a close contact with another patient at Danang General Hospital. He tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on August 1 and is now being treated at a local medical centre.

As of Sunday morning, the total number of coronavirus cases linked to Danang has increased to 144 since July 25. Three deaths have been reported, the committee said.
