Twenty Chinese people entering Vietnam illegally have been caught and quarantined for Covid-19 prevention by authorities in the northern province of Bac Ninh.

Twenty Chinese people entering Vietnam illegally are detained on August 5 in the northern province of Bac Ninh.

According to Bac Ninh police, at around 5 pm on Wednesday, they found a group of 20 Chinese people at YoYo HD Hotel on Le Thai To Street in Bac Ninh City.

The hotel manager Bui Thi Thao, 38, confessed that on Tuesday she had hired a taxi to take the Chinese from Tu Son Town in Bac Ninh to Bac Ninh City and arranged six rooms for them with the fees of VND4 million (USD173.91) in total per day.

When being checked by the police, the group failed to show legal entry papers.

The police are investigating the case and have worked with concerned agencies to put the Chinese under quarantine for virus prevention.

Under Vietnam’s Covid-19 prevention regulations, all people, including locals, entering the country must be compulsorily quarantined for 14 days, during which they will be tested for the virus several times.

Vietnam has banned entry of foreign nationals since March 22 with exceptions and conditions.
