12 Covid-19 patients recover in Danang and Quang Nam

Ten Covid-19 patients in Danang and two patients in Quang Nam have recovered and discharged from hospitals on August 13.

The field hospital in Hoa Vang District announced on August 13 that 10 patients were discharged. The patients haven't shown any symptoms and have been tested negative three to five times. The oldest patient is 59 years old and the youngest is eight months.

Dr Ngo Thi Kim Yen, director of Danang Health Department said more patients had been tested negative. "We are still monitoring them and the patients will be discharged as soon as they meet all requirements from the Ministry of Health. After being released they will continue to be home-isolated for 14 days," she said.

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son said they were trying to provide more personnel and equipment to Danang. In the first wave, the ministry used local staff but in Danang’s case, the ministry will call for personnel from other provinces and cities.


  

The youngest patient released is the 8-month-old child.

"In Danang, there are so many patients in critical condition and with underlying illnesses so we have to keep a close eye on the situation. We'll build and adjust the treatment accordingly based on the global results to find the best treatments for these patients," he said.

On the same day, Mai Van Muoi, deputy director of Quang Nam Department of Health, announced that two first Covid-19 cases in the province had recovered and been discharged from Quang Nam Central General Hospital. The two patients 716 and 719, will continue to be monitored at home. According to Muoi, 10 patients have been tested negative once, three tested negative thrice and eight tested negative four times at the hospital.

Thirteen patients at the Dien Nam-Dien Ngoc Medical Facility were also tested negative once.

Patient 716 lives with her husband and two children and sells veterinary medicine for a living. On July 16, she attended a funeral and had contact with many people. On July 21 to 30, she opened the store and had contact with customers. She also went to the market before having a fever and aches. She tried to buy medicine to treat the fever. On July 30, she filed a medical declaration form. On August 3, she was tested for Covid-19 and was brought to the quarantine centre.

Patient 719 is a hairdresser and lives with his mother, wife and daughter. He visited his grandfather at Danang Hospital on July 23. From July 24 to 27, he went to the gym with his friends and attended a funeral. On July 28, he went to a cafe bar and during this time he kept his hair salon open and had many customers. He was tested and quarantined on August 3.
