Vietnam has recorded 22 new Covid-19 infection cases, raising the total number of patients in the country to 905, the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control announced on Thursday evening.

Health workers in Hanoi carry out PCR tests for all people returning from Danang.

The new patients include 14 in Danang City, two in Quang Nam Province, one in Quang Tri Province, and five imported cases who have been quarantined in Khanh Hoa Province.

The latest cases in Danang include nine women and five men aged between 17-73.

They are health workers, patients, relatives of patients at local hospitals and people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients.

Two new patients in Quang Nam Province are a 27-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man who both came into contact with Covid-19 patients.

A 36-year-old woman in Quang Tri Province also tested positive for the virus after having close contact with a patient.

Meanwhile, the five new patients in Khanh Hoa Province all returned from Japan on August 5. They include three women and two men aged between 23-45 who were quarantined upon arrival.

With these latest infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients coming from abroad has risen to 327 while those related to Danang City has increased to 428 since July 25, the committee said.

As of Thursday evening, a total of 421 patients have recovered and the country has reported 20 deaths.

At present, over133.000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
