Covid-19 prevention regulations applied at former Party Chief’s funeral

Some Covid-19 prevention regulations will be imposed on the State funeral of former General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Le Kha Phieu at his hometown in the central province of Thanh Hoa on August 14-15.

According to the organising board of the funeral, each delegation coming to the event for the tribute is not allowed to have more than eight people, nor can they bring their own wreath. Instead, the board will arrange rotational wreaths.

People are asked to wear face masks and not shake hands to ensure safety during the Covid-19 pandemic.

People who had close contact with Covid-19 cases are not permitted to join the tribute delegations.

The respect-paying ceremony will be held at 25B Hall in Dong Ve Ward, Thanh Hoa City between 8am and 12 pm on Friday.

The State funeral for former Party Secretary Le Kha Phieu will also be organised at the National Funeral Hall, No 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi from 8 am on August 14 to until 12 pm on August 15 and at Thong Nhat (Reunification) Hall in HCM City.

Some streets in Hanoi will be closed from 6 am on Friday to 1 pm on Saturday to serve the funeral, including Tang Bat Ho, Pham Dinh Ho, Nguyen Cong Tru and Tran Thanh Tong.

Meanwhile, several kinds of vehicles like coaches of more than 25 seats will be also restricted on many other streets during this time.

The former leader passed away at 2.52 am on August 7 at his house in Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.

During the two-day national mourning on August 14-15, national flags will be flown at half-mast at state offices and public places, and recreational and entertainment activities will be halted.
