The new patients include 15 in Danang City, two in Quang Nam Province, and a Chinese national who was recently found to have illegally entered the country.

The 27-year old Chinese man was among seven Chinese nationals who illegally entered Vietnam on July 27 through a border in the northern region. He travelled by car to Ho Chi Minh City from July 27-29.

On July 30, he was found and taken to quarantine in the city.

On August 1, he was taken to Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients where he tested negative for the virus twice. However, his third test taken on August 12 came positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Patients numbered 913-927 are residents of Danang City and nine of them are connected with the Danang Hospital.

Two patients in Quang Nam Province are a five-year-old boy and a 57-year old woman who all had close contact with Covid-19 patients.

With these latest infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients coming from abroad has risen to 328 while those related to Danang City has increased to 461 since July 25, the committee said.

As of Friday evening, a total of 437 patients have recovered and the country has reported 21 deaths.

At present, 172,093 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
