Paid repatriation flights postponed after new Covid-19 outbreak

Vietnam will postpone paid repatriation flights and commercial flights for a third time following a new wave of Covid-19 in HCM City.
Recently, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam announced that nearly 200 repatriation flights will be held to bring Vietnamese citizens home from Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan from December 1, 2020 to January 15, 2021.
However, a new community case was detected in HCM City. Both of the positive cases in HCM City failed to follow preventive and quarantine regulations.
On December 1, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc halted all international flights to Vietnam to better control the situation. Only repatriation flights for children, and old, sick and needy people are allowed. This means the paid repatriation flight plan have been scrapped and for a third time, the paid repatriation flights and commercial flights have been postponed.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the flight crews are always at risk of getting SARS-CoV-2. They can be infected from passengers, ground staff or when they stay in other countries. Preventive measures have been strengthened as the pandemic started. All crew members and passengers must wear N95 masks, protective suits and gloves. Passengers will not be allowed to sit too close to the cockpit.
After leaving the plane, the pilot will use a different shuttle bus than the flight attendants or the passengers. The pilots will also be quarantined and tested. They will only be discharged if all crew members and passengers are tested negative.
Airlines are urged to constantly disinfect the planes. Crew members are asked to wash hands regularly and remove the protective suits correctly before leaving the plane.
