Russian woman and daughter re-infected with Covid-19 in Vietnam

A Russian woman and her daughter have tested positive for Covid-19 again in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau after finishing their quarantined.

On Monday afternoon, Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s Department of Health reported on the Covid-19 reinfection of the two Russians.

Kushchenko Anatalla, 31, and her one-year-old daughter Kushchenko, entered Vietnam on November 24. After being tested positive for Covid-19, they were sent to the Health Centre of Khanh Hoa Province’s Cam Lam District.

On December 25, they were discharged from the quarantine site, but continued being quarantined at a hotel in Nha Trang City. On January 7, they were tested negative for the second time.

On January 8, when the mother and her child took a flight from Cam Ranh International Airport to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City before taking a taxi to Vung Tau City at around 8 pm on the same day.

Arriving in Vung Tau City, they were quarantined at the Vietsovpetro health centre. However, on January 10, they left the centre without permission. On January 11, the Covid-19 testing result showed that they were re-infected with the virus.

People who had close contact with them have been quarantined. Meanwhile, authorities of Ba Ria-Vung Tau are defining other vulnerable people that could have come into contact with the mother and the child.
