Binh Dinh firm fined for violating environmental regulations

A company in Long My Industrial Zone in Binh Dinh Province has been fined VND 210 million (USD9,131) for violating environmental protection regulations.

Binh Dinh Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment on January 13 issued the fine to MTV Nhat Nam Hung Company in Long My Industrial Zone in Quy Nhon City.

The company has also been suspended for six months.

According to the department, the company showed violations in collecting and storing solid waste, cleaning their site, and growing trees.

The company also had installed and put into use a new production line without having approval from local authorities. They had also moved machinery to another area without having studied the environmental impacts, the department added.

All these activities by the MTV Nhat Nam Hung Company had seriously violated regulations on environmental protection, the department concluded.

The company has been asked to carry out measures to restore the environment within 30 days since the fine was issued.
