The museum was constructed under the ‘Art in the Forest’ project, which has been held over the past six years and has attracted dozens of celebrated painters and sculptors both from home and abroad.

The project was first developed in 2015 with an aim of bringing contemporary art closer to the community, thus raising the public capacity for aesthetic appreciation. It has received an enthusiastic response from contemporary artists, including Ly Truc Son, Nguyen Xuan Tiep, Nguyen Son, Bui Hai Son, Le Lang Luong, Ddam Dang Lai and Khong Do Tuyen.

It has also gathered outstanding figures from the worlds of painting and sculpture from Canada, the US, France, Japan, Italy, Thailand, the Republic of Korea, Singapore and Spain.

Throughout its six editions, the project has honoured artists who have devoted their lives to the arts and created a positive influence on their younger colleagues and art lovers alike.

It has also provided a venue for young artists to promote their creativity and express their thoughts and feeling about life through the language of contemporary art.

Painter Vu Hong Nguyen, co-founder of 'Art in the Forest' project, said that the project has offered young artists opportunities to enhance their art practice and nurture their aspirations in following a career in art while supporting talented and creative artists who are living in difficult circumstances.

The project was voted as one of the top five fine arts events of the country in 2016, 2017 and 2019 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

The success of the project has motivated its sponsor, the Flamingo Holding Group, to launch the Flamingo Contemporary Art Museum.

Covering a total of 124 hectares in the Flamingo Dai Lai Resort complex, the museum has been designed as one of the leading contemporary museums in Asia with two display areas, outdoor and indoor.

The outdoor space houses 56 sculptures of assorted sizes, weights and materials of bronze, stone, wood, and steel, scattered across the pine trees and gardens.

Meanwhile, the indoor space showcases 70 lacquer and oil paintings, selected from hundreds of works in the project’s collection.

The museum is expected to bring the contemporary art of Vietnam and the world closer to both the public and visitors at home and abroad. In the coming time, the Flamingo Group will inject further investment to turn the museum into an attractive and highlighted art destination in Vietnam.
